History of Slovak Glass Artists Assoc.
ASSOCIATION OF SLOVAK GLASS ARTISTS has been established 1990 as independed professional organization. From beginning main targets are support of the local glass art scene, build up international connections with partner associations and organize exhibitions and workshops for their members. We invited already many artists for our events from abroad and Slovakia. Association survived many structural changes over last two decades. Not only changing number of the members, but also number of the partner organizations during years came through many changes. It has been for example Ministry of Culture of the Slovak and Czech Republic, Union of Slovak Visual Arts, Association Forma, Association of Slovak Artists, Slovak National Gallery, Slovak National Museum, Museum of Jewish Culture, Slovak Culture Centres in Budapest, Wien, Paris and Berlin, Galleries Medium, Simone, Trnava, Trenčin, Cyprián Majerník, Šariš and many others in Slovakia. Abroad it has been for example Exhibition of Glass in Kanazawa, Japan, Galleries Mitte, Klute, Neusser, Kulturkontakt, BMUK all in Wien, Austria, Collegium Hungaricum, Museums in Trélon and Boulogne sur Mer, Palace of the Culture in Le Mans, Cité Internationale des Arts Paris, France , Radhuisgalleriet Oslo, Norway, European Culture program Kaleidoskop and Nyborg Kunsvarksted Denmark, Kunststichting Perpektief Belgium, Glassmovement.nl, Beit Hagefen Haifa, Izrael, Klostergalerie Zehdenick, Berlin an many other. We have successful organized workshops/symposia in Kvetná, Zlatno International Glass Symposium in years 1992,1993, 1995 and 1999 and also First Symposium of Technical Glass in Bratislava 1997. We have been able to make seven TV films about our events and personalities, for example about Zlatno´93, directed by I.Stadtrucker, Danube Project 1994, directed by J.Babik, Glass Bridge 1995, directed by J. Babik, Metamorphoses of Glass 1997, directed by L.Vladár . We have been also able to invite during two decades international recognized artists for our workshop evenst or for exhibitions: Martin Brunhuemer, Jack Ink, Erich Pummer and Helmut Hundstorfer, Austria, Gerry King, Australia, Marina Papais and Graham Scott, Canada,Mogens Justesen, Denmark, Annaleena Hakatie, Finland, Thierry Baudry, Nicole Barondeau, Yves Jumeau, Catherine & Jan Zoričák all from France, Gyorgy Buczko, Lászlo Cserba, Gabrielle Horváth and János Polyak from Hungary, Frank van den Ham, Mari Meszaros, Dorothé van Driel,Richard Meitner ,Mieke Groot, Rachel Daeng Ngalle,Willem van Oijen, Simsa Cho, Antoon van Wijk, Gareth Noel Williams, Carl van Hees, Deborah Hopkins, Lisa Gherardi, Barbara Nanning, Effie Halkidis, all from the Netherlands and many other. We have collaborated also with art historians Jarmila Račeková, Agnes Schramm, Agáta Žáčková, Mária Horváthová from Slovakia and Simon Wintermans and Frans Jeursen from the Netherlands.
